We’re chuffed to announce that, on Sunday 19 July, our esteemed colleague, Mr Darren Beckles (a.k.a. The Chariot of Charing Cross) completed a 10K run in a staggering (well he was, anyway) 59.27 mins – that’s an average of 10km/hr(ish).
Designer Darren completed the run, his first 10K, on behalf of the Alzheimers Society, raising much-needed cash for a charity that’s becoming more and more important as our population lives longer.
This 10K – The Great Newham, London Run – was the first time this route had been used. It took place in the Olympic Park and finished in the Olympic Staduim (picture above). In the final leg, the stadium even played ‘Chariots of Fire’ (in Darren’s honour, we believe).
Darren says: “It was a geat experience for a cause that’s dear to me. Plus, I’m very happy that I smashed my targets, and I got to run on the same track as our Olympic heroes. I’d like to thank the Alzheimer’s Society – they cheered me on and that kept me going!”
We’re really proud of Darren, who also exceeded his target donation total: if you want to contribute to Darren’s fundraising page then click here, or you can donate at the Alzheimer’s Society by clicking here.
