Consolidating a growing website
Viridor
Originally a waste management company, Viridor has expanded into recycling and renewable energy. Its website has grown organically with the constant expansion of their business offer, with new sections added when needed. Although the website remained informative, the site design, information architecture and user journey became cumbersome. In addition, they had two separate, stand-alone sites in addition to their main site. Services, which was based on SilverStripe CMS, and News & Blogs, with Wordpress CMS.
Our response
Bell undertook a website rebuild in 2015. For the front end, we refreshed the design to bring the colour, font and layout design up to date. We consolidated the IA by dividing content into different business sections: operations, developments and sustainability. We also consolidated the back end: though Services and News & Blogs remain separate sites with separate CMS platforms, we enhanced the user journey by making the front-end look like one site. All three sites were easily accessible through the main home page navigation bar. Finally, we made the site responsive, with a mobile-first approach.
What our client thought
“I have been impressed with their ability to both accommodate what we request of them and also to push the boundaries when required ensuring that our digital offering is the best it can be, within significant limitations (technology and budgetary).”
